Buda is a food ordering app for a local Budapest restaurant that provides delivery services designed to fit people's tight schedules.
In today's fast-paced world, many individuals face time constraints that hinder their ability to prepare meals. As a result, food delivery services have become increasingly popular, offering a convenient solution to this issue.
Our project focuses on creating an app, enabling customers to place orders in advance. This app will enhance the convenience of food delivery, catering specifically to busy schedules. Now customers can enjoy delicious meals without compromising their packed routines.
User research
I conducted interviews and developed empathy maps to gain insights into the users I was designing for and their needs. Through research, a specific user group was identified: working adults with limited time to cook meals. This group validated initial assumptions about Buda Restaurant customers. However, further research revealed that time constraints were not the sole factor preventing users from cooking at home.
Additional user challenges emerged, such as various obligations, interests, or difficulties in procuring groceries or visiting restaurants in person.
Name: John Age: 38 Occupation: College professor
John is a university professor and teaches art history. He has a very busy life and enjoys spending free time with his children and not having to worry about meals. John needs a restaurant that delivers at home and can pay online.
Research analysis and Ideation
To explore what I learned from the user research I held a brainstorming and ideation session.
I wrote down the ideas and quotes from the interviews on post-its and grouped like-minded post-its together. This led to three clusters that gave me an understanding of the most common issues around content creation.
Research findings
Allow users to choose what type of cuisine they want to order and how much is needed. The user can verify which ingredients contain the chosen dish, having a brief description and a score from other users.
From the cart to the checkout, the user orders his order in an easy and intuitive way.At the end of the order, the user can still check how far and how far the courier is from his home.
The order history feature provides users with a convenient way to access and review their past orders, whether they are active or canceled. By accessing a comprehensive list of their orders, users can easily track and monitor their purchasing history.
Process Flow
The product
The first designs allowed some visualisation of the various kitchens, but after the usability study, I changed the format of each dish list to make it easier for the user to read and navigate each one.
Moving Forward
There is still so much more to explore with Buda.
What if there was another way to search by type of dish and dietary limitations?
Does it make sense to have more details on each product page?
Should the delivery review have a wider space and be simpler to submit?
These are just some of the questions I would like to delve into as I continue to work on this project. But for now, feel free to check the current state of the app.
